Vietnam-France cooperation in health proved fruitful

Paris (VNA) – Vietnam’s Minister of Health Nguyen Thi Kim Tien hasgranted insignias “For the Health of the People” to 30 French medical expertsfor their contributions to Vietnam’s health sector.

The granting ceremony took place within the framework of aconference to review 25 years of the two countries’ cooperation in the care forpublic health at Sorbonne University in Paris on June 15.

In the past 25 years, more than 20 programmes were held inthe fields of doctor training, technology transfer, public and preventivehealth, and scientific research. Around 3,000 Vietnamese doctors were trainedat France’s hospitals, while many French professors taught at medicaluniversities in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Hai Phong city and Thua Thien-Hueprovince.

Vietnam also contributes three members to the PasteurInstitute network, namely the Ho Chi Minh City Pasteur Institute, Nha TrangPasteur Institute and National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology.

Minister Tien revealed that a new cooperative agreement willbe signed between the two ministries in late 2018, with the priority given totraining of health workers; scientific research on infections, pharmacy andvaccine; investment in producing drugs and vaccine; health management; andprimary healthcare.

Experts at the conference agreed that in 2018, the twocountries maintain their diverse cooperation. However, cooperation methods willchange due to the appearance of new diseases related to the environment andpopulation aging, bigger expectations of the society for the health sector, andclimate change threats.-VNA

🅠 Vietnam, France collaborate in vaccine production technology transfer

Under the agreement, VNVC and Sanofi will gradually implement technology transfers to enable domestic production of several key Sanofi vaccines that are widely used in Vietnam. In addition, Sanofi will support VNVC in training human resources and quality management in vaccine research and manufacturing.
