Hanoi (VNA)-🐽The Hanoi-based Vietnam-Germany Friendship Hospital unveiled its special hospital status on November 10.
The status has earlier been granted to Bach Mai, Cho Ray and Hue Central hospitals.
According to Prof. Dr. Nguyen Viet Tien, Deputy Minister of Health and Director of the Vietnam-Germany Friendship Hospital, the hospital has performed over 42,000 complicated operations a year, doubling the figure recorded ten years ago.
Prioritising the application of advanced technologies, the facility is taking the lead in organ transplants nationwide, with over 400 kidney, 23 liver, and nine heart transplants carried out successfully.
Health Minister Nguyen Thi Kim Tien recommended the hospital to continue efforts to achieve more successes, particularly in quality control and technology transfer.
Preparations for the hospital’s second facility, which accommodates 1,000 beds, should focus on manpower and finance management, she said.
Founded in 1906, the establishment now boasts 1,200 beds, 52 surgery rooms, and 26 clinical units with 1,700 staff working actively.-VNA
