– A webinar discussingpost-COVID-19 tourism cooperation between Vietnam and India was held in Ho ChiMinh City on October 23.

Speaking at the event, Indian Consul General in Ho Chi MinhCity Madan Mohan Sethi said the webinar aims to enable State management andtravel agencies to discuss bilateral tourism cooperation following thepandemic.

Deputy head of the Vietnam National Administration ofTourism (VNAT)’s Tourism Market Department Tran Phong Binh said due to theimpacts of COVID-19, tourist arrivals in Vietnam only hit 3.7 million in ninemonths of this year, down 67.4 percent year-on-year. The total revenue slumpedby over 53 percent to nearly 10 billion USD.

Last year, about 33,000 Vietnamese travelled to India andaround 170,000 Indians arrived in Vietnam.

Participants at the event also debated tourism stimulusplans once the pandemic is under control./.
