Vietnam, Laos strive for stronger cooperation on religion

Vietnam and Laos have agreed to enhance their collaboration on religious issues through organising regular meetings to share information on and experience in State management of religion.

The agreement was made during talks on September 4 in Vientianebetween Deputy Head of the Government Committee for Religious AffairsBui Thanh Ha and Vice President of the Lao Front for NationalConstruction (LFNC) Chanthavong Senamatmontry.

Thetwo sides approved the continued implementation of their cooperationagreement for the 2014-2020 period, whilst stepping up collaborationprogrammes on religious issues, focusing on improving links betweenBuddhist organisations.

Meanwhile, Vietnam andLaos will enhance communication between their peoples, especially theyounger generations, and educate them on the special friendship,solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.

During the talks, the two sides also briefed each other on the currentsituations on religion in each country. Both sides expressed theirpleasure with the fruitful cooperation in previous years, particularlywith regard to training.-VNA
