HCM City (VNA) – Vietnam is expected to cash in on container shippingin 2019 as the US-China trade war will make the country busier with import andexport activities, experts said.
At a talk held in Ho Chi Minh City on January 6 to launch the translatedversion of the “Liner Shipping 2025: How to survive and thrive” by Lars Jensen,Vu Dang Duong, head of the translation group, said that container shipping willcreate a revolution in the logistic sector thanks to its pre-eminence overother kinds of transportation.
In his book, Jensen, a thought leader in the container shipping industry, wrotethat global liner shipping is undergoing the largest transformation since theinvention of the container itself, he added.
In the next six years, the marine shipping will change dramatically from whatit has traditionally run, thousands of Vietnamese container and logistics firmswill suffer substantial impacts, Duong said.
According to Nguyen Xuan Vinh, Managing Director of Marine Connections VietnamJSC, sea transportation will continue its momentum as well as see fiercecompetition of large shipping firms in the world.
They will have to build larger ships which can load up more goods to reducecosts, he added.
Regarding the development trend of the container shipping by 2025, experts atthe talk said that that shipping companies will join hands to pilot digitalisedmeasures based on practical demands and operations of the market. In addition,automation will replace various positions in the office work.-VNA
