Vietnam, Mozambique eye stronger agriculture ties

Maputo (VNA) – Deputy Minister of Agriculture andRural Development Nguyen Quoc Tri has freshly had a working session with hisMozambican counterpart Olegário dos Anjos Banze in Maputo, discussing bilateralfarming cooperation projects and prospects for the sides’ teamworks in thetime to come.

At the May 29 meeting, Tri told his host that the twocountries have coordinated to research and develop food crops, with Vietnam sendingmany experts and technicians to support Mozambique. He said he hopes such joint workwill be expanded based on each nation’s agricultural strength for mutual growth.

Thanking Vietnam’s help for Mozambique in not onlyfarming but also education, health and telecommunications, Banze lauded the effective support of Vietnamese experts and wished to learn more from theSoutheast Asian nation’s agricultural experiences, particularly in processing cashew products, building and managing irrigation and drainagesystems, and making use of available food crops to produce animal feed and developthe dairy industry.

Tri affirmed that Vietnam is willing to assist and shareexperiences with Mozambique in terms of farming,processing, production, commercial product development, and the improvement of product quality based on the three important factors of irrigation,varieties and farming methods.

The Vietnamese deputy minister, who is visiting Mozambiqueto attend and chair the fourth meeting of the Vietnam-MozambiqueIntergovernmental Committee, noted that farming cooperation is animportant topic of the event./.
