Vietnam named Asia-Pacific’s best golf destination in 2017

Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam has been selected as the best golfdestination in the Asia-Pacific region in the 2017 Asia Golf Awards on-linepoll conducted by the Asia Golf Magazine.
Vietnam created good impression on regional and international golfers, thusreceived the largest number of votes to become the most favourable golfdestination in the region, said Mike Sebastian, CEO of the Asia Pacific GolfGroup (APGG) – the governing body of the Asia Golf Magazine.
The result was spurred by Vietnam’s meticulous investment in golf tourism. Thecountry is currently home to 40 operating golf courses while other courseswhich are under construction will be put into use in 2018.
The courses are of top-notch quality as they have been developed by the world’sleading golf course designers. Notably, Nicklaus Design, renowned golf coursedesign firm with more than 400 golf courses in 43 countries and 39 in the US,has become strategic and exclusive partner of BRG Group, Vietnam’s most dynamicoperator of world-class golf course. They have joined hands to build a solidfuture for golf in Vietnam.
According to the Asia Golf Magazine, Vietnam will be a magnet for golf tourismas along with 30,000-35,000 domestic golfers, the country has been a hot spotfor those from Japan, the Republic of Korea, the US, France and the UK.
The country’s golf tourism will develop further especially when the country ishonoured as the best golf destination in the region. Vietnam will receive theaward at a ceremony held in Da Nang city on November 11. In the three-month poll ending on June 30, Vietnam received 104,000 votes ofgolfers worldwide.-VNA
An international conference on golf tourism was held in Da Nang city by the International Association of Golf Tourism Operators (IAGTO) and the city Department of Tourism on May 8.
The number of visitors increased by 4.1% compared to the same period last year, while total tourism revenue surged by 48.8%, or nearly 88% of the year’s target.

Alexander Musikhin, Vice President of ATOR and CEO of the Intourist travel agency, highlighted Vietnam as a top destination offering a unique blend of beach holidays and cultural excursions.
According to Seoul’s Tourism Industry Department, approximately 20,000 Vietnamese visitors travel to the city each year for medical treatment. Vietnam consistently ranks among the top 10 countries with the highest number of medical tourists to Seoul.
An analysis of accommodation search data based on check-in dates for June and July revealed that Nha Trang surpassed all other destinations in popularity among Korean users.
The programme is organised by the Khanh Hoa provincial Youth Union and the “Khanh Hoa people speak English” Project, and aims to promote the culture, history, cuisine and other tourism products of Nha Trang – Khanh Hoa to international visitors.
