Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam wishes to receive Norway’s assistance in transport and maritime development, seaport management and the training of human resources in the transport sector, Deputy Minister of Transpﷺort Nguyen Van Cong said.

Cong had working sessions with Norwegian State Secretary Transport and Communications Reynir Johannesson, and State Secretary for Trade, Industry and Fisheries Dilek Ayhan in Oslo on November 30.
He congratulated Norway on its reelection as a member of the International Maritime Organisation’s Council and on becoming an official ASEAN partner, which opens up more opportunities to foster cooperation between Norway and ASEAN, especially considering the ASEAN Community’s formation by the end of this year. He also proposed Norway consider the launch of negotiations on a maritime agreement so as to expand bilateral maritime cooperation.
Reynir Johannesson informed the guest of Norway’s transport development policy and seaport development strategy, while Dilek Ayhan briefed him on a strategy to develop a green maritime industry. The State Secretary for Trade, Industry and Fisheries also asked Vietnam to continue creating favourable conditions for Norwegian enterprises when their businesses operate in the country. During his stay in Olso, Deputy Minister Cong also met the director of the Oslo Port Authority to study its experience in controlling and developing the Port of Oslo - Norway's leading cargo and ferry port.-VNA
