Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam treasures its relations with Japan and considers the country a high-priority partner in its foreign♔ policy, affirmed President Tran Dai Quang at his reception in Hanoi on April 21 for Tsutomu Takebe, special advisor to the Japan-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentary Alliance.

Speaking of the special advisor’s contributions to Vietnam-Japan ties, the President expected he would continue sharing experience to help Vietnam develop agriculture, respond to climate change, and upgrade infrastructure to serve the country’s sustainable development.
The guest informed the host of the progress of the Japan-Vietnam University project, saying that the university will begin operation with its first master’s course on September 9, 2016. He added that President of the Japan-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentary Alliance Nikai Toshihiro had suggested establishing a climate change response centre under the university after the first course opens.
President Tran Dai Quang confirmed that Vietnam is willing to coordinate with the Japanese side to facilitate the effective operation of the university and welcomes the establishment of the climate change response centre. As cultural and people-to-people exchanges are one of the important factors that consolidate political trust and strengthen bilateral cooperation, Vietnam welcomes and always facilitates the organisation of cultural festivals between the two countries, he added.-VNA
