Vietnam receives precious paintings from Japan

HCM City (VNS/VNA) - Five precious Japanese paintings belonging toJapanese collector Ito Chihiro have been presented to the Museum of VietnamHistory in Ho Chi Minh City.

The works were painted in the 18th and 19th century, during which Japanese artswere witnessing exchanges in techniques and materials with western countries,creating high-valued works that combined both traditional and modern elements.

The paintings were drawn vertically, portraying Japanese culture, like thepainting of a peacock by painter Nishida Syunkou, a mountain by painter Hakuhouor those of Maiko by painter Kubota Syousui, among which Maiko is an apprenticegeisha performing dancing, singing and playing traditional musical instrumentin pubs or during parties./.
