Collecting sample for COVID-19 testing (Photo: VNA) Hanoi (VNA) – The Ministry of Health reported 2,180 new cases ofCOVID-19 on July 19 evening, raising the total number of infections in the dayto 4,195, including 4,175 domestically transmitted and 20 imported that werequarantined upon arrival.
Ho ChiMinh City is still the country’s largest coronavirus hotspot with 3,074 newcases.
Infectionswere also recorded in Binh Duong (503), Dong Nai (154), Dong Thap (53), Hanoi(44), Vinh Long (41), Phu Yen (41), Long An (37), Khanh Hoa (34), Ben Tre (30),Ba Ria - Vung Tau (28), Soc Trang (19), Binh Thuan (19), Quang Ngai (17), CanTho (15), Quang Nam (11), An Giang (8 ), Tra Vinh (8 ), Kien Giang (8 ), BinhPhuoc (6), Bac Ninh (4), Hung Yen (4), Ninh Thuan (4), Lao Cai (2), Vinh Phuc(2), Hau Giang (2), Binh Dịnh (2), Thai Binh (1), Gia Lai (1), Dak Nong (1),Hai Phong (1), and Ninh Binh (1).
Asof 7pm on July 19, Vietnam had a total of 55,946 domestic and 2,079 importedcases. The number of local infections since the latest wave of COVID-19 hit thecountry on April 27 was 54,376, including 8,273 recoveries.
Atotal of 380 COVID-19 patients were given the all-clear on July 19.
Meanwhile, the National Steering Committee on COVID-19 Prevention and Control announced80 new deaths in HCM City and five other provinces recorded between July 9and 19, increasing the total number of fatalities in Vietnam to 334.
Among the new deaths, 70 were reported in HCM City and the others in Bac Ninh, Dong Thap, Long An, Tra Vinh and Vinh Long provinces.
Most of them are elderly patients with long-standing underlyingmedical conditions such as cancer, scoliosis, kidney failure, hepatitis, blooddisease, hypertension, and diabetes.
Eleven localities that have gone 14 days without new community infections,namely Yen Bai, Quang Tri, Tuyen Quang, Son La, Thai Nguyen, Dien Bien, Hai Duong,Phu Tho, Quang Ninh, Hoa Binh and Bac Kan./.
