Vietnam, Russia look to forge stronger multifaceted links

Moscow (VNA) – Vietnamese and Russian officials hoped to develop cooperation between the two nations in all fields, especially inꩲ economics, trade, investment, security-defence, education-t꧋raining and tourism.

During meetings with Russian officials on his working visit to Russia from June 6-8, President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan highlighted comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries, saying that this and significant assistance from Russia for Vietnam, helped increase the position of Vietnam in the region and the world. The VFF leader introduced Russian officials to the role played by the VFF in national liberation struggles in the past and national construction and defence at present.
He also praised the support provided by the Russian State and people in Vietnam’s past struggles for independence. Russian officials affirmed their country’s policy to maintain a comprehensive strategic partnership with Vietnam, noting that this is part of Russia’s strategy to enhance relations with countries in Asia-Pacific. General secretary of the All - Russia People's Front (ARPF) Alexander Bretralov noted the contributions made by the VFF to Vietnam’s ongoing reform and construction. With similar functions and responsibilities, the VFF and the ARPF should foster links and share experience, he said.
During his stay, the Vietnamese official and his entourage attended the opening ceremony of the Vietnam Cultural Days in Russia, and laid a wreath at the President Ho Chi Minh statue in Moscow . He also met with representatives of the Russian veteran’s association and the Russia-Vietnam Friendship Association. Talking to Vietnamese expatriates living and working in Russia, the VFF leader affirmed that the Party and State consider the overseas Vietnamese communities as an indispensable part of the nation. He called for the Vietnamese overseas community to contribute more to the homeland’s development and to bilateral relations.
The Vietnamese delegation will tour Norway after concluding their Russian working visit.-VNA
