Vietnam steps up measures against trade remedy circumvention

Hanoi (VNA) – The Prime Minister has recently given green light to theproject on strengthening State management over the circumvention of traderemedies, and fraudulent acts of origins.
The move is important for the country to take full advantage of theinternational commitments, sustainably develop exports, and protect the rightsof local firms, particularly when Vietnam is deeply integrating into the globaleconomy by joining various free trade deals.
Under the project, Vietnam will enhance state management for import-exportactivities and foreign investment, raise public awareness of regulations,complete legal documents on trade remedies, product origins and customs procedures,and mete out strict punishment to any violation.
To that end, competent agencies will keep a close watch on the import-exportsituation with large trade partners to give warning on trade-remedies-relatedlawsuits as well as help businesses, particularly small- and medium-sizedenterprises, to respond to legal proceedings.
Furthermore, they will diversify market destinations to reduce independence ona single market, thus alleviating negative impacts when being slapped withmeasures against trade remedy circumvention.-VNA
Malaysia's Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) has revised anti-dumping duties imposed on imports of cold rolled coils of alloy and non-alloy steel originating or exported from China, the Republic of Korea (RoK) and Vietnam.
Vietnam is among several countries and territories affected by India’s new anti-dumping probe against digital printing plates, said the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT).
The Ministry of Industry and Trade’s Trade Remedies Authority of Vietnam has received petitions from Hung Nghiep Formosa Ltd Company and Youl Chon Vina Plastic JSC which request an anti-dumping investigation on Biaxial Oriented Polypropylene (BOPP) film originating from China, Thailand and Malaysia.
The US Department of Commerce (DOC) has announced preliminary rulings on the circumvention inquiries into Vietnamese cold-rolled steel (CRS) and corrosion-resistant steel (CORE) exports made from materials imported from Chinese Taiwan and the Republic of Korea (RoK).
