Vietnam strengthens HIV-drug addiction integrated treatment

HCM City (VNA) – Vietnam will strengthintegrating HIV and drug addiction treatment toward the 90-90-90 targets.

Deputy Director of the Vietnam Administration ofHIV/AIDS Prevention and Control Pham Duc Manh made the statement at the fourthNational Conference on Substance Use Disorders (SUD) and HIV which is takingplace in HCM City from August 3 – 8.

According to Manh, integrated SUD and HIVtreatment models have been proven effective since their first application in2014, helping reduce HIV transmission among drug addicts and in the communitywhile expanding SUD and HIV treatment coverage.

To date, there are 244 facilities nationwideoffering ARV and Methadone integrated treatment, Manh said, adding that thekind of treatment are  facilitatingpatients’ access to different services while saving human resources  and operation cost.

The model will be maintained and expanded acrosslocalities in the coming time, according to Manh.

During the conference, participants will join otherdiscussions, including using alternatives to treat drug addiction, newlyemerging addictive substances in Vietnam, and caring for SUD patients.-VNA

Vietnam, France collabora🍎te in vaccine production technology transfer

Under the agreement, VNVC and Sanofi will gradually implement technology transfers to enable domestic production of several key Sanofi vaccines that are widely used in Vietnam. In addition, Sanofi will support VNVC in training human resources and quality management in vaccine research and manufacturing.
