Vietnam to attend ASEAN defence ministers’ meetings in Philippines

A high-ranking military delegation of Vietnam led by Minister of National Defence General Ngo Xuan Lich will attend the 11th ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting (ADMM), the 4th ADMM-Plus (ADMM+) and pay an official visit to the Philippines from October 23-27.

Hanoi (VNA)– A high-ranking military delegation of Vietnam led by Minister of National DefenceGeneral Ngo Xuan Lich will attend the 11th ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting(ADMM), the 4th ADMM-Plus (ADMM+) and pay an official visit to thePhilippines from October 23-27.

The Vietnamese delegation’s participation in theADMM and ADMM and its official visit to the Philippines will be made at theinvitation of Philippine Secretary of National Defence Delfin Lorenzana.

Its engagement in the events reflects Vietnam’sactive, proactive and responsible participation in different spheres ofcooperation within the framework of the ADMM and ADMM+. 

It is also to continue implementing Vietnam’sinitiatives within the framework of ASEAN defence cooperation while affirmingits role and position in the region and the world through activities atmultilateral forums and promotion of common efforts to maintain peace,stability and development in the region.

Meanwhile, the delegation’s official visit tothe Philippines aims to discuss measures to boost bilateral defence relationsin the time ahead, thereby helping to intensify the Vietnam-Philippinesstrategic partnership.-VNA
