Vietnam will host for the first time a congress of the AsianAustralian Federation of Interventional and Therapeutic Neuroradiologyfrom March 25 to 28 in central Da Nang city.
Around 300Vietnamese delegates and 200 from other countries and territories inAsia and Australia, the US, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Switzerlandwill compare notes on difficult interventional neuroradiology cases atthe biennial event.
Acute ischemic stroke, venous thrombosisstroke, endovascular treatment aneurysms, intracranial stenosis, flowdiverter, carotid artery stenting, traumatic vascular diseases, spineand spinal vascular intervention, brain arteriovenous malformations, andmultimodality treatment will be some of the topics discussed.
TheVietnam Society of Interventional Radiology is a young organisation,established only in 2010, Prof Pham Minh Thong, president of the VietNam Society of Radiology and Nuclear Medicine, said.
"In a shortperiod, the society has achieved strong development with success in manyfields, particularly therapeutic neurointervention," he said.
Thereare more than 1,500 cases of interventional neuroradiology in thecountry every year, including 500 cases of intracranial aneurysms,500-600 cases of carotid cavernous fistula, and 350-400 cases ofarteriovenous malformations, he said.
The scientific congress is agood opportunity for doctors in various fields to share experiences andbest practices with their international peers, he added.
The conference will be organised by the society in coordination with the Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy.-VNA
