Vietnam to organize int’l conference on disease prevention

The Prime Minister has given the green light to Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to organize an international conference on disease prevention this month.

 The Prime Minister has given the green light to Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to organize an international conference on disease prevention in Hanoi this month.

Some 170 domestic and international experts will be invited to the event, which will focus on ways to prevent and combat the spread of diseases from animal to human and bolster regional and global cooperation in the field.

The participants are to come from countries in Southeast Asia, states committed to the Global Health Security programme (GHS), as well as relevant international organisations and agencies.

Vietnam ♊is located in a relatively high-risk region for emerging infectious diseases. The new influenza A/H7N9 virus, which was receꦓntly detected in humans and animals in neighbouring China, is an example of the potentially serious regional threats to public health and economic development.-VNA

Enhanced anti-COVID-19 measures in place amid ris൩ing cases

According to the World Health Organisation, more than 25,000 COVID-19 cases have been recorded globally over the past month. Notably, from January 1 to May 10, Thailand reported nearly 54,000 infections and 16 deaths. The rise in cases in Thailand has been linked to the spread of XBB.1.16 subvariant.
