Hanoi (VNA) – A ceremony was held inHanoi on July 12 to launch the Vietnam trade information portal at//www.vietnamtradeportal.gov.vn
The event was attended by Deputy Prime MinisterVuong Dinh Hue, Finance Minister Dinh Tien Dung, and Acting Country Director ofthe World Bank in Vietnam Sebastian Eckardt.
The website, developed by the General Departmentof Vietnam Customs with technical assistance from the World Bank Group in Vietnam,aims to provide official legal documents and procedures related to exports,imports and goods in transit.
It is expected to improve the predictability andtransparency of the country’s trade laws and processes, thus facilitating theaccess to Vietnam’s trade regulations for foreign and domestic investors,particularly small and medium-sized enterprises.
Finance Minister Dinh Tien Dung expressed hishope that enterprises and stakeholders will find necessary and usefulinformation on trading activities on the Vietnam trade information portal.
In line with the requirements of the World TradeOrganisation (WTO) and Trade Facilitation Agreements, the ministry pledged towork closely and effectively with Government bodies, private sector andinternational organisations to ensure information sharing and sustainability ofthe portal, thus contributing to the implementation of internationalcommitments on transparency, Dung said.
Eckardt said trade is an important drive forcefor Vietnam’s growth, adding that it is crucial for entrepreneurs and investorsto get easy access to information on import-export procedures.
Users can find relevant documents issued byrelevant ministries, sectors and state management agencies on export andimport, he said.
The portal is part of the efforts of theGovernment to facilitate trade, he said, adding that the World Bank willcontinue provide support for such efforts.-VNA
