The Vietnam Trade Office in the Netherlands has warned of online fraud cases, particularly related to petroleum products, amidst the high demand for this category of goods.

Hanoi (VNA) – The Vietnam Trade Office in the Netherlands haswarned of online fraud cases, particularly related to petroleum products,amidstthe high demand for this category of goods.

Fraudsters often create fakewebsites with fabricated information or counterfeit websites impersonating legitimate import-exportcompanies or companies providing petroleum storage tank services whose contactinformation being usually a mobile phone number or an internet phone number.

Accordingto the trade office, many companies are easy to become victims of thescams because of theirfear of missing out on business opportunities and without informationverification about partners due to they believe that the Netherlands is adeveloped country with a strict legal system and reputable companies.

The agency advised Vietnamese businesses to be cautious andengage in transactions with reputable partners whose contact information provided ontheir websites includes a landline phone number and an email in the format ofinfo@.

The payment method commonly used in petroleum trading transactions is through a letter ofcredit (L/C), it noted.
