Vietnam treasures relations with UAE: NA Chairwoman

Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam alwaysattaches importance to the friendship and all-round cooperation with the UnitedArab Emirates (UAE) – one of its leading partners in trade, investment andlabour in the Middle East, said National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi KimNgan.
The top Vietnamese legislator made the statementat a meeting with Sheikha Lubna Khalid Al Qasimi,Minister of State for Tolerance of the UAE, in Abu Dhabi onDecember 12 as part of her activities in the country to attend the 11thGlobal Summit of Women Speakers of Parliament.
NA Chairwoman congratulated the host on herelection as the UAE’s Minister of State for Tolerance, sayingthat the appointment shows the country’s determination to improve the lifequality and satisfaction of the people, and promote tolerance – a basic valuethat is highly valued in the UAE.
While expressing her admiration atsocio-economic achievements the UAE has made in recent time, as well as her delightat increasingly developing ties between the two countries.
She appreciated the organisation of the Summit,stressing that the event will contribute to improving the role and position ofthe UAE in the region and the world at large.
The guest also briefed the host on theVietnamese NA’s duties, hoping that the two countries will share theirexperience in law-making and implementing policies to create social interestsand better people’s living conditions.
She expressed her belief that Sheikha Lubna Khalid AlQasimi will work to further promote the Vietnam-UAE cooperation in the comingtime.
For her part, the UAE official said that theestablishment of her agency is to protect the UAE’s values, adding that hercountry’s policy on tolerance aims to promote tolerance and prevent extremismin the society.
Sharing views with the host, NA Chairwoman Nganalso highlighted the spirit of tolerance in Vietnam’s policies. She said thatin its foreign policy, Vietnam plans to wrap up the past and look toward thefuture and wants to be a friend with all countries around the world.
Regarding social policies, the country often gives clemency to prisoners andall religions in Vietnam are equal before the law, she added.-VNA
