Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam and the UK hold massive defence cooperation potential whic🅰h should be tapped in the near future, Vice Chief of the UK’s Defence Staff Stuart William Peach said during his courtesy call on Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh🌜 Minh on November 4.
At the meeting in Hanoi, Minh said he is pleased with sound outcomes of the countries’ strategic partnership in political-diplomatic, economic, educational-training and defence cooperation.
He valued the two countries’ appointment of resident defence attachés to each other and asked both sides to effectively implement the memorandum of understanding on defence cooperation through sharing views on strategic issues, collaborating in personnel training and defence industry, and assisting each other in joining the United Nations’ peacekeeping forces.
Meanwhile, the UK officer spoke highly of Vietnam’s recent attainments in external relations and growing stature in the region and the world.
The UK Ministry of Defence will continue working closely with the Vietnamese ministries of National Defence and Foreign Affairs to bolster the two countries’ strategic partnership in all realms, especially defence – security, thus fostering bilateral affiliation and contributing to regional and global peace, stability, cooperation and development, he added.-VNA
