Vietnam, US universities cooperate in first aid training

The United States’ University of Utah will provide a training course on first aid for 50 Vietnamese doctors, who are working at emergency wards in Vietnam.
The United States’ University of Utah will provide a training course onfirst aid for 50 Vietnamese doctors, who are working at emergency wardsin Vietnam.

According to the US Consulate General in HoChi Minh City, a delegation of medical experts from Utah University hasarrived in the city to provide information about first aid courses,which is part of a cooperation programme between Utah University and theHCM City University of Medicine and Pharmacy (UMPH).

MartaAckers, Deputy Director of the US Centre for Disease Control andPrevention (CDC) in HCM City said the programme aims to enhance capacityfor Vietnamese doctors in providing first aid services and promotecooperation between universities.

Early this year, theCDC’s technical experts and the UMPH’s lecturers visited Utah Universityto build an educational curriculum on testing techniques for studentsstudying at Vietnam’s medicine and pharmacy universities.

Thevisit helped promote cooperation in medical technique as well as openednew cooperation opportunities on first aid, said UMPH Director Vo TanSon.-VNA
