Vietnamese, Cambodian navies boost ties

Theaffirmation was made in a meeting of the Vietnam Naval High Command’sdelegation led by Colonel Pham Van Hoanh, Deputy Chief of Staff of theNavy with the Royal Cambodian Navy led by Rear Admiral Mien Va on August10, in the framework of the delegation’s working visit to Cambodiafrom August 9-13.

At the meeting, the Vietnameseand Cambodian sides highly valued the results of exchange visits fromvarious levels of the two countries’ naval forces in recent years.

Speaking at the meeting, Hoanh spoke highly the Royal Cambodian Navy’scoordination with the naval zone 5 of Vietnam in maintainingsecurity and orders at historical waters and bordering territorialwaters between the two countries and promptly addressing issues arisingat sea to contribute to preserving regional peace and stability.

MienVa highlighted the significance of cooperation between the twocountries’ naval forces at all levels, highly valuing cooperation intraining and technological fields, which helped develop fine relationsbetween the two countries’ armies and people.

Both sidesagreed that after six years of enforcing the joint patrol regulationsand conducting 23 joint patrol missions, Vietnam and Cambodia havemaintained security and order, exchanged information and promptlyprevented illegal actions on historical waters and bordering territorialwaters between the two countries.

The two sides pledged to further promote the sharing of experience, thus raising mutual understanding and trust.

They also agreed that the Royal Cambodian Navy would plan the 24 th joint patrol./.
