Vietnamese, Chinese border localities seek stronger partnership

The Secretaries ofthe Communist Party of Vietnam Committees of four Vietnamese northern border provincesof Lang Son, Quang Ninh, Cao Bang and Ha Giang, and the Communist Party ofChina Committee of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region held talks in Lang Son on March 22 aspart of their New Year Meeting 2019.

At the talks, Secretary of the LangSon Party Committee Lam Thi Phuong Thanh said the partnership between the four Vietnamese localities and China’s GuangxiZhuang Autonomous Region has been developing.

Along with maintaining regular exchange activitiesand meetings among senior leaders of the provinces, they have directed sectorsand border localities to strengthen cooperation in various areas.

Thanh proposed that the localities continueincreasing effective collaboration mechanisms and delegation exchanges, whilepromoting all-round cooperation.

Vietnamese and Chinese localities shoulddirect the optimising of affiliation among authorised agencies, focusing oninvestment, trade, tourism, transport system construction, border trade andeconomic cooperation, customs clearance, cross-border labour, justice,agriculture, science, education, culture, sports and health care, she said.

The localities will continue Vietnam-Chinayouth friendship meetings, festivals of border residents, cooperation forwomen’s progress, and expansion of partnership among twinned cities, districtsand villages. They should strengthen communications on Vietnam-China friendship.

She stressed the need for strictimplementation of Vietnam-China land border agreements, timely settlement ofcivil dispute cases arising in border areas, the smooth operation of bordergates, as well as cooperation in fighting cross-border criminals and ensuringborder security, and fostering collaboration in managing cross-border labourers.

Lang Son, Cao Bang, Ha Giang and Quang Ninhas well as Guangxi should share information on working conditions, income andrecruitment requirements of local enterprises, while implementing thememorandum of understanding on collaboration in building peaceful border signedbetween the Party Committees of Vietnam’s Cao Bang and Lang Son provinces and ChongZuo city of Guangxi.

After the New Year meeting 2018, Vietnameseand Chinese localities have held many meetings of senior leaders through allchannels, while exchanging information and sending greetings messages to eachother on important events.

The exchange and cooperation activities amongthe localities have helped boost their partnership in tourism, transportconnection, development of border gate pairs and markets, customs clearance,cross-border labour management, construction of border economic regions, trade-investment,and the combat against smuggling.-VNA
