Vietnamese director selected as judge of Fribourg film festival
Director Nguyen Hoang Diep, who won three awards at the Fribourg International Film Festival last year, has become a jury member for the event this year.
Hanoi (VNA) – 𒀰Director Nguyen Hoang Diep, who won three awards at the Fribourg International Film Festival last year, has become a jury member for the event this year.
Diep was the only Vietnamese representative among four female judges in the category for foreign films.
"Dap Canh Giua Khong Trung" (Flapping in the Middle of Nowhere), Diep’s first feature film and the foreign winner last year, was screened at the festival.
The 30 th Fribourg International Film Festival took place from March 11 to 19, with record entries of 126 films from 62 countries, half of which directed by women.
In an interview with a Vietnam News Agency reporter, Thierry Jobin, an artistic director for Fribourg Festival for the last five years, expressed his interest in artwork from Vietnam.
He said the festival plans to create a new category for Vietnamese films, which aren’t well-known in many European countries.
The renowned annual Swiss event has honoured cinematographic work since 1992.-VNA
