Vietnamese durian trademark promoted in Australia

Sydney (VNA) – A royal antique car decoratedwith durian fruit and a banner that read “Vietnamese Durian” travelled aroundthe centre of Sydney on October 29 as part of a campaign to promote the fruitin Australia.

This is the first time a typicalfruit of Vietnam has been introduced to Australian consumers in the form of aroadshow.

Speaking at the event, VietnameseConsul General in Sydney Trinh Duc Hai said that the promotion of Vietnameseagricultural products helps strengthen trade relations between Vietnam andAustralia.

According to head of the VietnamTrade Office in Australia Nguyen Phu Hoa, although Australia has yet to grantpermission for the import of fresh durian, frozen durian has become popularhere.

He noted that if Vietnamese frozen duriancan develop a unified branding strategy, it will be able to compete with otherinternational durian brands.

The Vietnam Trade Office has successfullyshipped two batches of Vietnamese frozen durian to Australia, Hoa added.

The durian production capacity ofVietnam has increased quickly from 17,500ha in 2018 to 47,300ha in 2018,raising the output from 93,000 tonnes to over 478,600 tonnes, according to theMinistry of Agriculture and Rural Development./.
