Vietnamese in Laos support flood-hit people in central region
The Vietnamese Embassy in Laos held a fund-raising event on October 25 in support of people affecting by the recent record flooding in central Vietnam.

Vientiane (VNA) – The Vietnamese Embassy in Laos held afund-raising event on October 25 in support of people affecting by the recentrecord flooding in central Vietnam.
Vietnamese people living in Vientiane, Vietnameseenterprises operating in Laos and embassy staff donated a total of over 750million VND (32,200 USD).
Speaking at the event, Ambassador Nguyen Ba Hung spokehighly of the support by the Vietnamese community in Laos, affirming that theembassy will soon send the money to affected families.
In addition, Vientiane-based Phat Tich Pagoda held a requiem for soldiers,officers and civilians killed in the recent devastating floods and landslidesin the central region.
As of October 24 evening, heavy rains and floods claimed 119lives, and left 21 others missing./.
As much as 660,000 baht (19,200 USD) was raised by Vietnamese expats in Thailand’s Udon Thani province to support flood victims back in the homeland in a programme held on October 23.
Located in the downstream area of major rivers, Duy Thanh commune in Duy Xuyen district, Quang Nam province resembles a lake every wet season. The commune has introduced a range of measures so that local residents can live together with nature and mitigate the damage caused by natural disasters, one of which is to assist people in building houses with an attic as a safe shelter.
Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc on October 24 underlined the urgent need to ensure normal lives and livelihoods for people in flood-hit areas in the central region, and to help them soon stabilise their lives.
A requiem has been solemnly held for soldiers, officers and civilians killed in the recent devastating floods and landslides in central Vietnam by Vietnamese expats in Laos at Vientiane-based Phat Tich Pagoda.

In recent decades, Vietnam’s mainstream media has become a reliable and persuasive channel for showcasing the nation’s development policies and achievements, especially in economic matters, according to a senior assistant editor at the Times of India.
A hub for sharing best practices, the event aims to forge solutions for financial sustainability, public media contracts, audience engagement, content innovation, and newsroom restructuring. It is also a moment for Vietnam’s media to accelerate its progress and figure out what the “revolutionary press” means in a new era.
From “Thanh nien”, Vietnam’s first revolutionary newspaper founded by Nguyen Ai Quoc (later President Ho Chi Minh) on June 21, 1925, the revolutionary press has remained devoted to its sacred missions -accompanying the nation, serving the Fatherland, and working for the people.
