Chairman of the National Assembly’s Committee for External RelationsTran Van Hang hosted a reception for Hossein Sobhaninia, a member ofIran’s Islamic Consultative Assembly Presiding Board and Chairman ofthe Iran-Vietnam Parliamentary Friendship Group, in Hanoi onNovember 19.
The Vietnamese official spoke highlyof the joint efforts undertaken by the two countries’ parliamentaryfriendship groups, which helped strengthen cooperation between the twolegislatures.
He reiterated Vietnam’s consistentforeign policy of independence, self-reliance, and diversification andmultilateralisation of international relations; its dedication to being afriend and trustworthy partner for all countries; and being an activeand responsible member of the international community.
Hossein Sobhaninia said legislative cooperation was a channel forfostering mutual understanding and collaboration, adding that theIran-Vietnam Parliamentary Friendship Group organised a number of jointactivities between the two countries.
He highlightedthat the two nations could support each other in all fields, addingthat Iran’s location in West Asia meant it could act as a bridgebetween Vietnam and European, African and Middle Eastern countries.In return, Vietnam could be a gateway for Iran to enter SoutheastAsia.
During their meeting, the two officialsexpressed their hope that the two sides continue delegation andpeople-to-people exchanges in order to improve mutual understanding andassist each other in the international arena.
Sinceeconomic cooperation was still modest, the countries should also promotecooperation on agriculture, science and technology, and education andtraining, and organise more forums for the two business circles toexpand their linkages, they said.-VNA
