Hanoi (VNA) - Party, State and VietnamFatherland Front leaders paid tribute to President Ho Chi Minh at his mausoleumin Hanoi on May 18 ahead of the late leader’s 128th birth anniversary (May 19,1890).
They included Party General Secretary NguyenPhu Trong, President Tran Dai Quang, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, NationalAssembly (NA) Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan and President of the VietnamFatherland Front Central Committee Tran Thanh Man.
Former Party, State and National Assemblyleaders, war veterans and representatives from ministries and sectors alsojoined the ceremony.
The leaders took a moment to remember thelife and career of the late President, who devoted his life to nationalliberation and worked tirelessly for peace and progress across the world.
President Ho Chi Minh led the nation tosuccess in the struggle for national independence and in establishing theDemocratic Republic of Vietnam following the August Revolution in 1945. Hepassed away in 1969.
The leaders later laid wreaths at theMemorial to War Heroes on Bac Son Street in Hanoi.
The same day, officials from the DefenceMinistry, the Ministry of Public Security and Hanoi paid homage to the latePresident.-VNA
