Vietnamese student awarded prize for academic excellence in Australia

Ly Le Quan, a Vietnamese student at the University of Technology in Sydney, was honoured in a ceremony held on September 15 in New South Wales to highlight the academic achievements of international students in 2014.
Ly Le Quan, a Vietnamese student at the University of Technology inSydney, was honoured in a ceremony held on September 15 in New SouthWales to highlight the academic achievements of international studentsin 2014.

Quan outperformed thousands ofinternational students at UTS and other universities, landing amongstthe top three finalists in the category of undergraduate andpostgraduate study.

The award not only highlightsher personal success in her academic and extracurricular endeavours,including charity work and community volunteering, but also increasesthe image of Vietnamese students in Australia.

Quan came to Australia in 2011 and is currently in the final semester ofher Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Science. Her life ambitionis to be part of the new generation of scientists, with an interest incancer research, paediatrics and well-being.

Sheis also an international student ambassador for the City of Sydney, astudent ambassador for UTS and connection director of UTS’ MedicalBiosciences student body.

Currently, more than 22,000 Vietnamese students are enrolled at Australian universities.-VNA
