Hanoi (VNA) – Businesses from Vietnam and Chinese Taiwan see opportunities to boost the 𝔉two sides’ trade value as there are potential fields for them to explore.

“Taiwan has a lot to offer Vietnam in terms of its expertise in textile and machinery manufacturing, information technology, and semiconductor production,” Chening Fan, who manages the Asia-Pacific Section Market Development Department of the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA), told Vietnam News Agency.

He attended an April 16 seminar on Vietnam-Taiwan trade in Hanoi together with 500 executives and representatives from various sectors, including cosmetics, food, machinery, energy, and agriculture.

The event was organized by the TAITRA and the Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency (VIETRADE).

“As Vietnam’s car manufacturing sector is developing and Taiwan has a strong advantage in this area, so the two sides can 🐼in♚tensify cooperation in this area,” Fan said.

The TAITRA official also said the two sides can also expand cooperation in other fields such as energy, and e-commerce.

He expressed his hope that the two sides can further increase the exchange of experience in technology cooperation, manpower training, and brand building.
“The TAITRA looks forward to staging the bilateral forum each year to boost exchanges between the two countries, ” he added.

Vietnam is one of Taiwan’s biggest Southeast Asian exporters and the country is also Taiwan’s biggest importer, only after Singapore.

In the first 11 months of 2017, Vietnam’s exports to Taiwan reached nearly 2,880 million USD, up 15.7 percent over the same period in 2016 while Taiwan’s exports to Vietnam hit over 6,668 million USD, up 6.79 percent. Generally, two-way trade grew relatively well over the past years.-VNA
