Hanoi (VNA) – The Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) will continuejoining hands with other religions and the entire society to create a greatnational unity to contribute to further developing the nation, affirmed MostVenerable Thich Thanh Nhieu, Standing Vice Chairman of the VBS’s ExecutiveCouncil.
Most Venerable Thich Thanh Nhieu made the pledged whilemeeting head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Mass MobilisationTruong Thi Mai in Hanoi on February 9 ahead of the lunar New Year (Tet)festival.
Mai stressed that with over 14 million followers, more than30,000 dignitaries and over 40 training establishments, Buddhism plays animportant role in Vietnamese people’s spiritual life.
She hailed contributions made by the VBS to the nation aswell as its efforts to help ethnic minority groups, poor people anddisadvantaged students with good learning performances.
