Vietnam’s exports to Algeria grow 17 percent in nine months
Vietnam’s exports to Algeria were estimated at nearly 240.9 million USD in the first three quarters of 2017, an increase of 17 percent from the same period last year, according to the Trade Office of Vietnam in Algeria.

Coffee continued to be the largest earnerwith export value exceeding 91.7 million USD, up three percent year on year. Exportsof rice jumped 145 percent during the period to exceed 13.3 million USD.
Meanwhile, shipments of mobile phones andparts declined eight percent to about 58.77 million USD.
Despite the growth, Vietnam’s exports to theNorth Africa nation will be unlikely to reach the target of 300 million USD thisyear, said Vietnamese Trade Counsellor Hoang Duc Nhuan.
This was largely due to recent tighterAlgerian import policies. Vietnam only exported 13 million USD worth ofcommodities to Algeria in September, a significant decrease from previousmonths. Notably, mobile phones and parts saw dramatic falls in June and Julyand reported no orders in the next two months, he noted.
Nhuan said that the Trade Office of Vietnamis working with authorities in Algeria to help Vietnamese exporters resolvedifficulties and boost exports in the final quarter of the year.
