Hanoi (VNA) – The Vietnamese Embassy in Germany held a ceremony inBerlin on August 31 to celebrate the 72nd anniversary of Vietnam’s AugustRevolution Day (August 19) and National Day (September 2).
Ambassador Doan Xuan Hung affirmed that the Vietnamese Party and State alwaysattach great importance to developing the strategic partnership with Germany.
A similar event was held in Canada’s capital of Ottawa with the participationof over 200 people.
Vietnamese Ambassador to Canada Nguyen Duc Hoa said the relations between thetwo countries have been thriving since they established diplomatic ties in1973.
Currently, Vietnam is the biggest trade partner of Canada in the Association ofSoutheast Asian Nations (ASEAN) with two-way trade reaching nearly 5 billionUSD, he noted.
Nearly 7,000 Vietnamese students are pursuing education in Canada, which isexpected to increase in the coming time, he said.
On September 2, 1945, President Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration ofIndependence, declaring to the world the foundation of the Democratic Republicof Vietnam, now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
