The 2015 introduction of the multidimensional poverty index (MPI) marked a shift from income-based measurements to a more holistic model, evaluating access to basic social services like health, education, housing, and clean water. Vietnam's adoption of the MPI has positioned it as a leader in the Asia-Pacific in tackling poverty from multiple angles.
