The Vietnam Construction andImport-Export Joint Stock Corporation (Vinaconex) should stay alertagainst challenges and continue upholding its tradition of a heroicunit in the stage of development ahead, said State President NguyenMinh Triet.
Working with leaders and workers ofVinaconex in Hanoi on Oct. 31, the State President praised thecorporation’s achievements posted over the past 20 years.
Since the establishment of its precursor - Overseas Construction andService Company - in 1988, Vinaconex has developed into a leadingcorporation in the construction industry, with more than 70 affiliatecompanies and 42,000 staff operating throughout the country, he said.
The State leader stressed that Vinaconex is making the best of itscapacity, role as well as contributions in civil construction andinfrastructure projects to support socio-economic development inlocalities.
Earlier, President Triet inspected production and business operationsat the Da river waterworks of the Vinaconex Water Supply One LimitedLiability Company.
He said the project is a strategic programme in terms of socialsecurity that reflects Vinaconex’s resolve to supply enough safe waterto residents and contribute to socio-economic development of the wholecountry in general and of Hanoi and Hoa Binh province in particular.
The project completed its first phase to the tune of 1.5 trillion VND(around 84.2 million USD) with a designed output of 300,000 cu.m ofwater per day.
It already began to supply water to residents in the south-westernregion of Hanoi, where the consumption volume reaches 80,000 cu.m.
Having acknowledged the fact, President Triet asked Hanoi ’sauthorities to work closely with leaders of Vinaconex and concernedagencies to remove all obstacles regarding the building of pipelines,distribution networks and water prices in a move to ensure benefits ofboth people and the company./.
