Vingroup launches four smartphone models

VinSmart, a subsidiary of Property developer Vingroup, officially launched four new smartphones on December 14.

HCM City (VNA) – VinSmart, a subsidiary of Property developer Vingroup,officially launched four new smartphones on December 14.

Vsmart products use a VOS operating system developed on the Android platform,with prices ranging from 2.5 million VND (106 USD) to 6.3 million VND (269 USD).

Tran Minh Trung, General Director of VinSmart, said: “We are currently usinglaboratories in the United States, the Republic of Korea, Japan, China, Israeland Singapore to study new technologies used for smart electronics." Hesaid with the advantage of technology, human resources and factories, VinSmartplanned to launch 10 smart phones in 2019.”

The same day, VinSmart reached an agreement on intellectual property rightswith the US-based leading semiconductor and telecommunications equipmentcompany Qualcomm Incorporated.

Under the agreement, Qualcomm will provide proprietary (paid) intellectualproperty rights to VinSmart for the development, production and sale ofterminal equipment. VinSmart will officially join the list of originalequipment manufacturers (OEMs) worldwide.

VinSmart and Qualcomm also agreed to accelerate strategic cooperation betweenthe two sides in the fields of Smartphone, IoT devices, Automotive, 5G, AI andMachine Learning. Specifically, both firms will jointly develop a number offootprints using in smart homes, smart retail, smart manufacturing and smartcities; set up a programme for R&D of products, build test facilities forsmartphones, IoT devices and other products manufactured by VinSmart.-VNA
