Vinmec to become top ASEAN hospital for surgical anaesthesia

Hanoi (VNS/VNA) - Vinmec Medical System and the World Federation OfSocieties of Anaesthesiologists (WFSA) have signed an agreement to ensure thesystems will conform to the Helsinki Declaration on patient safety inanaesthesiology.

As the first medical facility in Vietnam signing a commitment with WFSA, Vinmecis looking forward to becoming the safest hospital for surgical anesthesia inASEAN.

Introduced in 2010, the Helsinki Declaration is a standard of ensuring surgicalanesthesia safety that is now being applied throughout Europe. Under theframework of the agreement, all medical facilities of Vinmec Medical Systemwill conform to standards recommended by the European Anaesthetic Associationin the operating room and ICU areas. The Vinmec medical system is committed todeveloping treatment plans and medical facilities for infection control,anaphylactic shock, multiple bleeding and postoperative pain management.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, WFSA President Jannicke Mellin Olsen, who isalso the author of the Helsinki Declaration, said that anaesthetists wereprotectors for patients during anaesthetisation, intensive care and painmanagement processes. In that spirit, the goal of preventing anesthesia-relatedincidents was a challenge throughout the world.

Olsen said that the WFSA hailed Vinmec’s ability to comply with strict safetyrequirements. WFSA will continue to provide training to improve the quality ofanesthesia practice for Vinmec doctors and nurses in efforts to expand thismodel to other hospitals in Vietnam.

“With instruction and support of WFSA, Vinmec can perfect its anesthesia safetymodel and realise the goal of becoming a painless hospital, providing theoptimal quality of care for patients,” said Prof. Bui Duc Phu, Deputy Directorof Vinmec Medical System.

As the first medical facility signing international commitment on patientsafety in anaesthesiology, Vinmec not only realises the goal of becoming thesafest hospital on anesthesia in Southeast Asia, but will also become the bestplace for world-class health care services for people in Vietnam and in theregion.

Vinmec Medical System is non-profit health system launched in 2012 by theVingroup. The system consists of three components following the standard modelof the world’s leading health system, with hospital chain, research instituteand universities. The system currently has seven general hospitals,of which two have had Joint Commission International(JCI) accreditations. It is expected that Vinmec will have 10 hospitalsnationwide by 2020.-VNS/VNA

🉐 Vietnam, France collaborate in vaccine production technology transfer

Under the agreement, VNVC and Sanofi will gradually implement technology transfers to enable domestic production of several key Sanofi vaccines that are widely used in Vietnam. In addition, Sanofi will support VNVC in training human resources and quality management in vaccine research and manufacturing.
