Violin phenom to perform with HBSO

Vietnamese-French violinist Stéphane Tran Ngoc will perform with the Ho Chi Minh City Ballet, Symphony Orchestra and Opera (HBSO) at the Opera House tonight.

HCM City (VNA) - Vietnamese-French violinist Stéphane TranNgoc will perform with the Ho Chi Minh City Ballet, Symphony Orchestra andOpera (HBSO) at the Opera House tonight.

Ngoc will play The Four Seasons by Vivaldi, a group offour violin concerti, each of which features a season of the year. It waswritten in 1721 and first performed in 1725 in Amsterdam. 

The musician will also perform Distant Light, aconcerto for violin and wind orchestra written by Latvian composer PeterisVasks in 1996.  

The concert’s conductor is Meritorious Artist Tran Vuong Thach.

Ngoc completed his training in violin and chamber music at theParis National Superior Conservatory of Music when he was 15. He received amaster’s degree at the Brooklyn College’s Conservatory of Music before pursuinga doctorate at Juilliard School.

He has performed with leading orchestras, such as the Radio-FrancePhilharmonic, Monte Carlo Philharmonic, National Orchestra of Ile-de-France,Paris Ensemble Orchestra, and the Shinsei Symphony Orchestra

Ngoc was one of the youngest violin lecturers for theConservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Lyon. He has worked for theLawrence University Conservatory of Music and is now head of strings at theLondon College of Music.

He has participated in many music festivals and masterclasscourses, and has been a jury member in major international competitions.

In addition to his solo playing, Ngoc plays with the DaPonteString Quartet and is a member of the Lawrence Chamber Players.

The concert will begin at 8pm tonight at the Opera House at 7 LamSon Square in District 1.
