“.vn” domain records highest number of registrations in Southeast Asia

Hanoi (VNA) – The “.vn” domain name has always had the highest number ofregistrations across Southeast Asia since 2011, the Vietnam Internet NetworkInformation Centre said on March 5.
The domain has also been listed among the top ten in Asia-Pacific with 463,796names as of February 27, 2018.
Of note, “.vn” has appeared on a special stamp set which was issued in lateFebruary on the occasion of the second summit between the US and the DemocraticPeople’s Republic of Korea (DPRK), signaling that the domain name hasaccompanied the country’s development and international integration in thedigital era.
The domain name “.vn” is the countrycode top-level domain, which has been transferred by the Internet Corporationfor Assigned Names and Numbers to Vietnam for management.
According to experts, the nationaldomain name is protected by Vietnamese law.
When using the national domain name, enterpriseswill be able to prevent counterfeit numbers and also minimise the loss ofcommunication with international partners when a fibre-optic cable breaks.-VNA
Only a low proportion of Vietnamese companies have registered their domain name using “.vn”, according to the Vietnam Internet Network Information Centre.
More than 106,300 new ".vn" domain names were registered in the first 11 months of this year, bringing the total number of ".vn" domain names to 343, 370, a year-on-year increase of 16.4 percent.
