VN helps raise Cambodia’s rice productivity

Vietnam ’s high-quality fertilisers and its latest science and technology transferred to Cambodia have helped raise rice productivity in the neighbouring country, a conference was told in Cambodia on April 29.

The conference, held by the Binh Dien fertilizer company, with theparticipation of Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister Men Sam On, heard thatwith the widespread use of Vietnam ’s fertiliser, productivity onCambodian rice fields has tripled to 5-6 tonnes per hectare during thepast 10 years.
More than 15 percent of Binh Dien’s annual fertiliser output of 1 million tonnes of NPK is sold in Cambodia .

Deputy Prime Minister Men Sam On said the Cambodian government isprioritising agricultural development to ensure food security, reducepoverty among farmers, and gradually increase rice exports.-VNA
