VN-Laos venture presents scholarships to Lao university’s students

Vientiane (VNA) –Outstanding students of the National University of Laos (NUOL) on January 24received scholarships from the Lanexang Assurance Public Insurance (LAP), ajoint venture between the Vietnam Post and Telecommunication Insurance JSCorporation and the Laos Development Bank.
Addressing the awarding ceremony,Director of the LAP Do Dang Khang said the grants aim to encourage and aidexcellent students.
Ten scholarships worth 4 million Laokip (466 USD) each were presented to Vietnamese and Lao disadvantaged students withgood study performance of the NUOL. In addition, musical instruments and fivedictionaries were handed over to the university.
Rector of the NUOL Somesi Nhophanxay thankedLanexang for its support for the university’s students, saying that thescholarship not only helps disadvantaged students to overcome theirdifficulties to continue their study, but also a source of encouragement forother students to strive for better performance in study.
On January 25, the LAP presented accident insurance to nearly 5,000 people andfive tonnes of rice totalling 41,000 USD to about 1,000 households in twovillages of Paksong and Watluang in Paksong district of Laos’ Champasakprovince. -VNA
