Vietnam has reached the semi-finals of the Asian Football Confederation(AFC) Futsal Championship qualification tournament in Bangkok ,Thailand.
The semi-final berth follows twoconvincing victories that have earned the team six points, thrashingMalaysia 4-0 in the opener and demolishing Cambodia 7-1 in thesecond Group B.
But not content the second place in the group, inthe match against Australia on Feb. 23, the Vietnamese players draw2-2, earning one more point and jumping to first place in Group B.
They have a rest day on Feb. 24 and will play in the semi-final round on Feb. 25.
Vietnam needs a top-three finish to achieve the goal of qualifyingfor the AFC Futsal championships to be held in the United ArabEmirates in May.
Vietnam qualified for the 2010 edition of the championship, but could not progress beyond the group stage./.
Eight teams will join the tournament, divided into two groups. Group A features Vietnam, the Philippines, Sichuan Club (China), and Australia, while Group B consists of Vietnam U21, Korabelka Club (Russia), Taiwan (China), and U21 Thailand.
