Hong Kong (VNA) – Generations of the Vietnam News Agency (VNA)’s correspondents in Hong Kong (China) have contributed to promoting the image of Vietnamese land and people, according to scholars and representatives of the Vietnamese communities in Hong Kong and Macau (China).
Li Minghan, a scholar who has devoted more than half of his life to studying the revolutionary life and career of President Ho Chi Minh and the country and people of Vietnam, said that generations of VNA reporters in Hong Kong should actively delve into understanding the thoughts and aspirations of the Vietnamese community there.
They should also combine this with providing information and promoting awareness among the Vietnamese communities in Hong Kong and Macau about the Party and State’s new policies, guidelines, and regulations, thus contributing to supporting them in preserving and promoting their national cultural identity and strengthening their connection to their homeland, he proposed.
Doan Quynh Linh, Chairwoman of the Vietnamese Association in Hong Kong, emphasised that the VNA, with its network of 30 overseas bureaus located in most key regions around the world, serves as an important link connecting overseas Vietnamese with their homeland.
Linh shared that VNA reporters have consistently accompanied the Vietnamese community in Hong Kong in general and the social activities of the Vietnamese Association in Hong Kong in particular, from friendly football matches to film festivals, as well as community charity events. Notably, the VNA also conducts external information work in multiple languages, including Chinese and English, helping local readers better understand Vietnam.
Sharing the same view, Dinh Thi Bich Ngoc, Vice Chairwoman of the Vietnamese Association in Macau, stated that over the years, the VNA’s overseas bureaus have closely coordinated with the Vietnamese embassies, consulates general, and representative offices abroad in providing information in their respective regions, as well as in fostering relations between the host countries and Vietnam.
Ngoc stressed that the VNA bureau in Hong Kong has consistently supported the Vietnamese Association in Macau by promptly and prominently reporting on the activities of the Vietnamese community, such as celebrations of major national holidays and events. These efforts have contributed to strengthening the connection and solidarity between the com𒅌munity and Vietnam, while also promoting the image of the country and its people in the Macau Special Administrative Region./.
