VNA Press Award 2020 affirms professionalism, cohesion, responsibility

Hanoi (VNA) – Winners of the Vietnam News Agency (VNA) PressAward 2020 were announced at the agency’s information operation page at //dhtn.ttxvn.org.vn/ on September15, on the occasion of its 76th traditional day.

Speaking at the announcement ceremony, VNA General Director andChairwoman of the VNA Journalists Association Vu Viet Trang said that the VNAPress Award 2020 affirms the ‘professionalism’, ‘cohesion’ and ‘sense ofresponsibility’ of VNA reporters, editors and technicians.
The awards received 335 entries of alltypes. The jury chose seven first prizes in seven categories.

There were also 17 second prizes, 21 third prizes, and 25consolation prizes, along with nine extra prizes in categories such as multimedia,infographics, and promising journalists.
On this occasion, the VNA General Director also launched theVNA Press Award 2021./.
Over the course of its 76 years, the Vietnam News Agency (VNA) reporters and editors have immersed themselves in every change of the nation. Generations of journalists have been present in the fiercest battlefields, important political events as well as hotspots of diseases and natural disasters, thereby contributing to keeping news flowing.
During the development of Vietnam’s revolutionary press, the Vietnam News Agency (VNA) is among the press organisations to gain a complete attention of the beloved Uncle Ho. VNA has grown up from his teachings and comments on its bulletins.
On Sept. 15, 1945, the Việt Nam Thông Tấn Xã (now Thông Tấn Xã Việt Nam or Vietnam News Agency) officially broadcast to the world the Declaration of Independence and the list of members of the Provisional Government of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam in Vietnamese, French, and English. Sept. 15 then became the traditional day of the Vietnam News Agency.
In the context where AI dominates and produces vast volumes of content, the only sustainable path forward for journalism is to focus on high-quality content and core values. Journalism must redefine its mission - not to report the fastest, but to provide the most profound and trustworthy value.
Granma and the VNA have great potential for cooperation, especially in sharing content regularly, so that VNA products are published on Granma platforms and vice versa, thereby helping Cuban and Vietnamese people access true information and gain a deep understanding of each other's country and people.
During his stay in China’s Guangzhou city from 1924 to 1927 to prepare for the establishment of a Communist Party to lead Vietnam’s revolution, President Ho Chi Minh founded “Thanh nien” newspaper and released its first issue on June 21, 1925.

Founded in 1842, the Vienna Philharmonic is regarded as a cultural ambassador of Austria, with prestigious conductors like Mahler and Karajan who shape its legacy. Its New Year’s Concert, broadcast to over 90 countries annually, stands as a global symbol of classical music excellence.
PM Chinh lauded the press’s historic role in the nation’s fight for independence and its ongoing process of national development, affirming that the Government always highly appreciates the close partnership and steadfast support of press agencies and journalists nationwide.
In recent decades, Vietnam’s mainstream media has become a reliable and persuasive channel for showcasing the nation’s development policies and achievements, especially in economic matters, according to a senior assistant editor at the Times of India.
A hub for sharing best practices, the event aims to forge solutions for financial sustainability, public media contracts, audience engagement, content innovation, and newsroom restructuring. It is also a moment for Vietnam’s media to accelerate its progress and figure out what the “revolutionary press” means in a new era.
From “Thanh nien”, Vietnam’s first revolutionary newspaper founded by Nguyen Ai Quoc (later President Ho Chi Minh) on June 21, 1925, the revolutionary press has remained devoted to its sacred missions -accompanying the nation, serving the Fatherland, and working for the people.
