Hanoi (VNS/VNA) -A web page containing information on martyrs and where they are buried will belaunched on July 26.
The website, thongtinlietsi.gov.vn has been designed by the Ministry ofLabour, Invalids and Social Affairs (MOLISA) and Vietnam Post.
Relatives and comrades can supply additional information about fallen soldierswhich will be added to the site.
The portal would help people to find their relatives more quickly, said Dao NgocDung, MOLISA Minister.
The website provides a list of martyrs’ cemeteries nationwide, maps, anoverview image of the cemeteries, and details of the graves.
Minister Dung said the portal is only the first step. Local MOLISA agenciesneed to cooperate with Vietnam Post to review the information, note any datachanges and update images. Authorities also needed to continue examining DNA toestablish identities.
Vietnam Post said that 836,700 martyrs’ graves over three thousand cemeterieshad been documented, with almost 2.6 million images.
According to the ministry, there are still over 200,000 unidentified bodies andover 300,000 bodies with insufficient information relating to them.-VNS/VNA
