HCM City (VNA) -The War Remnants Museum in HCM City’s new showroom called White DovesCarry Peace contains paintings on the theme of peace.

The showroom is the joint effort of the museum and a group of Vietnamese andJapanese volunteers who are artists, students and teachers at schools of finearts in HCM City and in Japan. 

“The showroom is a symbol of peace, helping strengthen the friendship betweenthe two nations of Vietnam and Japan, both of which have experienced heavy lossfrom wars and have a strong desire for peace,” said Huynh Ngoc Van, Director ofHCM City’s War Remnants Museum.

As a co-founder of the White Doves Carry Peace showroom, Japaneseartist Okitani Koji, from Kawachinagano, Osaka and his volunteer team believethat the power of art can help with the call for peace and protest against war.

Artist Okitani Koji said that he and his team set up the showroom and producedmural paintings to provide a new “playground” for children when they visit or takea study tour at the museum.

Japanese volunteer artists and donors presented special gifts to children ofAgent Orange victims from three organisations in HCM City – the Peace Villageat Tu Du Maternity Hospital, Thien Phuoc Charity and An Phuc Charity. The AgentOrange victims attended and gave musical performances at the opening ceremonyof the new showroom.-VNA
