Hanoi (VNA) – Winners of a photocontest on primary healthcare for Vietnamese people were honoured at an awardceremony held in Hanoi on December 7.

Most outstanding photos of the contest arebeing displayed at the Ho Guom Cultural Information Centre in Hanoi fromDecember 7 - 9.

Starting from August 29 until October 31, the contest received1,270 entries from 350 photographers nationwide.

The organising board presented one first, twosecond and three third prizes and five consolation prizes to the winners.

The competition was held by the onlinenewspaper of the Voice of Vietnam (VOV), in collaboration with the Delegationof the European Union to Vietnam, the Ministry of Health, the HealthProfessionals Education and Training for Health System Reforms (HPET) and theWorld Bank, on the occasion of the 40 years of the Declaration of Alma-Ata onPrimary Health Care.

At the award ceremony, head of the organisersPham Manh Hung, editor-in-chief of the VOV online newspaper, said that thecontest contributes to raising public awareness of primary health care inVietnam.-VNA

A 2023 report by the Vietnam Health Economics Association estimated that the total cost of tobacco-related healthcare and economic losses reached 108 trillion VND (4.14 billion USD) annually – equivalent to 1.14% of GDP and five times higher than the budget revenue generated by the tobacco industry.

ꦫ Vietnam, France collaborate in vaccine production technology transfer

Under the agreement, VNVC and Sanofi will gradually implement technology transfers to enable domestic production of several key Sanofi vaccines that are widely used in Vietnam. In addition, Sanofi will support VNVC in training human resources and quality management in vaccine research and manufacturing.
