Wood exports surge 15.6 percent in Q1

Vietnam’s exports of wood and timber products in the first quarter of this year reached 2.3 billion USD, up 15.6 percent year-on-year, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development reported.

Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam’s exports ofwood and timber products in the first quarter of this year reached 2.3 billionUSD, up 15.6 percent year-on-year, the Ministry of Agriculture and RuralDevelopment reported.

Wood and timber products posted a tradesurplus of 1.02 billion USD, the highest among agro-forestry-fishery exports inthe period.  

In March alone, Vietnam earned 872 millionUSD from wood and timber products.

The US, Japan, China and the Republic ofKorea (RoK) maintained their position as Vietnam’s major wood importers, makingup a combined 79 percent of total revenue.

During the first three months, export valueof wood and wooden products to the US rose 34 percent, Japan 7.6 percent andthe RoK 0.5 percent.-VNA
