Hanoi (VNA) - The 10th World Rice Conference will be held in Hanoifor the first time from October 10-12.
The event will be jointly held by the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) andThe Rice Trade Magazine. It will be joined by the Vietnam Food Association, anda number of rice companies and international experts.
With the participation of foreign rice importers, distributors and merchantsfrom major markets such as China, the Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia,Singapore, the Republic of Korea, Japan, Africa, Europe and Mexico, theconference presents an opportunity for Vietnam to promote its rice industry andexports and showcase the achievements in improving the quality and added valuesof Vietnamese rice products.
It aims to promote the country’s rice production industry and also helps toraise the image of Vietnamese rice as the country focuses on building aninternational brand and improving the quality of rice while implementing a riceexport market development strategy and a new legal framework for rice exportactivities, according to the MOIT.
The conference is expected to see the attendance of 500-600 delegates from keyrice exporting and importing countries, large rice trading companies and riceexperts.
In the first eight months of 2018, Vietnam exported 4.4 million tonnes of riceworth 2.2 billion USD, up 6.8 percent in volume and 22.1 percent in valuecompared with the same period of last year.-VNA
